Ordination Ceremony: non-denominational

Reverend Ira J. Potter

Applicant kneels before the ordainer.

Ordainer speaks: You come here today before God to declare your intention to serve Him, personally and for the sake of humanity and the greater good. You come here to declare your dedication to the ministering of His Truth, the way that you see it true. Know that by this declaration, you take onto yourself a life-long task of learning, ministering, and serving. You will be expected to live according to the edicts of God that you preach to others. While this task is serious, it is not difficult, because God shelters those who answer His call, as it is said in Matthew Chapter 11 verses 28-30:

"Come unto me, all ye who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

Are you prepared to accept the invitation that God as you know Him has extended to you?

Ordainer places hand on applicant’s head, thumb on forehead

Then with my blessing and in the name of God, go, and minister to those who will listen and learn the truth of your God. Know that when the path is difficult, you need only to turn to God for the strength you need, for you are now a part of Him. For the same strength you impart to others on His behalf, so will He impart onto you. Rise, and know yourself as ordained into the service of God.

Applicant rises

At this time the ordainer may introduce the newly ordained minister to the congregation or witnesses, if any.
