Ashes Released

I guess I read this too late! I wrote this just for YOU! I hope you like it even if it is too late.

Service:

Greeting: (Whatever you want to say)

Remembrances: (IF you want people to speak about the dearly departed - I do NOT recommend this.)

Then the Presider might quote:

And Jesus said: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. Whoever believes in me will never truly die. Whoever believes in me will live forever. I have come, so that ALL may have life and joy; by that I mean life and joy in its fullness. Not as the world gives life and joy, but in its fullness. I go to prepare a place for you in my Father's house. A place we began preparing from the beginning of all time. It will be like the Feast after a wedding, only in its divine fullness; and we will rejoice and we will dance and we will sing and we will love and celebrate one another, in the glory of the Father; and it will be so for all eternity."

Now, we commend the ashes of our beloved (X= sister, etc.) to the earth and the universe from which she came forth.

(NOW free the ashes and say:)

"Ashes to ashes, dust to dust." and then "Remember, we are dust, and unto dust we will return."

Then say the Lords Prayer. "Our Father, who art in Heaven, etc. ---- "

We have reach today the edge of the cliff of life for our beloved (X= sister, etc.). For those who believe in nothing and no one beyond this material reality this is the tragic and pointless end.

But, we who believe, as confused and uncertain as we are to the truth, which we cannot fully comprehend in this moral life, WE arrive on this cliff, unable to see a future, or a next life, or anything...

And we JUMP!

Trusting that God or the Universe or some higher purpose or power or love, will catch us and lead us to what saint Paul said: "The eye can not see; the ear can not hear; and what the mind of man is incapable of imagining!"

May our beloved (X= sister, etc.) Rest in Peace.

AMEN!
