The Noon Moon
By Veronica Monet
The Noon Moon
Snowy White German Shepherd hair falls like
the soft petals of the Cherry tree's fleeting glory
Spring's first offerings
Slow and subtle at first
Soon force winter aside
Bees buzz above Blue Sage buds
The Tree Squirrel practices his birdcalls
Atop the still bare branch of a sleepy tree
While Magpie pacing transforms a leafy shrub
Into a mysterious menacing monster
Citrus blossoms beckon their come hither
under the silent Redwood sentinels
Bracketing the Warm Blue Sky's
Misguided Menstrual Moon
Dozing mated Doves
Watch us pass below
Canine snout hot for the smell of deer
Tracing hoof prints in the drying mud
Stopping now and again for
Snacks of baby green grass and
Sips of cold crystal water
Anointing the twisting creek bed
Our feet keep time with the same pulsing heartbeat
First Walking then Running then Climbing
We are one with each other
We are one with the other creatures
We are one with this moment
Witness to the timeless procreative imperative
Rebirth and Regeneration Rebel
Against Time's cruel Burden
