Lesson 3

Food For Thought:
So, let’s consider one that clearly isn’t a religion: the US Marine Corps! Is it a cult?
How about the Parent-Teacher group at your local school? How many of the 5 questions do they meet?

Merriam Webster Dictionary
CULT DEFINITION-
: a small religious group that is not part of a larger and more accepted religion and that has beliefs regarded by many people as extreme or dangerous
: a situation in which people admire and care about something or someone very much or too much
: a small group of very devoted supporters or fans

US Marine Corps? Yes, a "group of very devoted" soldiers, matched four out of five probably is a cult by
the guidelines given.
Parent-Teacher group? No, they are a group who "admire and care about something or someone very
much", but they only matched two out of five.

Interesting lesson! Next time I see someone shouting 'poopy-head!!!' and pointing their finger, I will look to see how many fingers are being pointed back at them.

Rev. Neciah Morrison
To see a world in a grain of sand, And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand, And eternity in an hour.
William Blake
