Master of Christian History Lesson 1 Questions answered by Rev. Joy Maestas
1. How did the Roman Empire help Christianity spreadthroughout the Mediterranean world of the 1 st century A.D.?

With the many roads built by the Roman Empire this gave avast network connecting each city, town with direct routes for the Missionariesthe travel. These towns were also using the same street Greek to communicatewith each other so having one language to speak to each other it was easy tocommunicate the good news of Christianity. The peoples also have a somewhatcommon back ground living under Roman law.

2. What were the effects of Greek language and philosophyupon the rise of Christianity? Thelanguage made it possible for each person to understand the other and using thestreet Greek they could communicate easier. The philosophy they shared gives them a understanding of the lack of intellectualscrutiny of their many gods. Christianity gave them the intellectual understand and logic of how theone God could cover all their needs.

3. In what ways did the Jews and Judaism impact the birth ofChristianity?

It was the ground work for the Christianity of ourtime. With Judaism setting up the synagoguesystem, it is the basis of our modern day churches. Jewsgave us the Old Testament as a history of where Christianity started and howthe blood line comes down to Jesus Christ. Having the synagogue’s to teach in gave rise to spreading the good news,1st to the Jew, then to the gentiles. Acts 26:20 King James Version (KJV)
